We follow a strict schedule when evaluating websites. The procedures are as follows:
Receiving applications:
How the evaluation processing works:
- All applications received in a full month are compiled into one group / database. (EXAMPLE: Let us say all applications received during August 2000)
- This database will be made available to our pre-evaluation team in the first week early next month and a database will be compiled of all qualifying applicants. (EXAMPLE: September 2000)
- Qualifying sites are evaluated in the second and third week of that month, allowing our evaluators two weeks in which they have to review all remaining entries, and to submit their final scores.
- In the forth week we compile the winners list and publish it on the last day of the month.
- We notify all winners by e-mail in the first week of the following month. (EXAMPLE: Early October 2000)
Evaluation
Websites are evaluated in 2 stages:
- Pre-evaluation: Evaluates eligibility of applications received according to the minimum criteria
- Major Evaluation: Evaluates website on 100 points, (5 sections of 20 points each)
Scoring
To win this award your website needs to score:
- Sections: 15 Points or more in all sections
Basically, allocating points are fair and simple. We evaluate all five sections, each containing 20 points of criteria. Points as specified on the section criteria pages are allocated as follow:
| Complies with asked criteria........................................ |
+1 |
| Does not comply with asked criteria............................... |
0 |
| Multiple / Serious fouls committed in asked criteria.............. |
-1 |
Remember: If a serious problem was found with any criteria, it may result in a 1 point penalty!
- Final Total: 80 Points or more.
Scores obtained in Sections A thru E are added up to determine your final site score.
15 x 5 = 80?
You probably have noticed that even if you meet the minimum requirement of 15 points per section, that it will add up to a total of 75 points.
Some websites will do better in some sections than others, and for that reason we have provided a reasonable margin to allow for fluctuations in some areas of web design. The ideal would be of course to achieve at least 16 points in all sections.
