Effective changes as of January 2007 - Posted on 01/12/2006:

The newly refurbished Maestro Awards of Excellence program is about to start! In the past 3 years, a lot has changed on the Web. We are also introducing some fresh, unique ideas, in making your experience here a great deal easier, and more helpful.

One of the most drastic changes to the program is that you need to register as an user to be able to nominate a website. Here's why:

  • Your contact details are automatically processed with all your nominations.
  • You would be able to track your application status.
  • You would be able to instantly request re-evaluations.
  • You will be able to view your results (depending on the application package you chosen for your website)
  • You would be able to contact us, without having to complete complicated forms.
  • Free use of other interactive services, such as chat, our public forums and more!

Dormant for at least 2 years - Expected re-launch end Jan. 2007!

Maestro Awards was put "on hold" for at least 2 years due to problems with our hosting company. Our host was declared insolvent late 2003, and although the site remained online and appears to be working, we were ever since unable to do anything about the website, do updates and receive applications. In August 2005 the site was relocated, but we still had problems to get the site working from day one. To much damage was done.

Maestro Awards are now located on our own server, meaning we host our own site / domain and mail services. It became evident that the site needed major restructuring and a fresher appeal, appearance and some updated content. However, our successful awards program will largely remain in tact, and is expected to be continued from January 2007.

Changes since January 1st, 2002

Some other changes to our awards program includes:

  1. Multi-level awards (gold-silver-bronze) are discontinued and replaced by just one award - see left hand side for details.
  2. Basic requirements criteria page was added - those are the requirements you would need to qualify for an full evaluation.
  3.  We've removed some old and stale criteria no longer applicable, and replaced those with a more modern version. Criteria will benefit both professionals and homepage designers.
  4. Interactive criteria pages with cross references, tips and tutorials. Full descriptions were added, and we believe that the criteria would be easier to understand.
  5. A complete new self evaluation, using our latest criteria! You be the judge of your own site. All criteria pages can be printed out, including a score sheet to be used as future reference.
  6. We've changed the minimum requirements in order to win an award. The minimum score required to win an award is 80 points out of a possible 100. More about it in the Requirements for the Maestro Awards page.
  7. Last but not the least: A brand new awards graphic!

Info about discontinuing the Multi-Level Awards

Rewarding the best websites (or webmasters) on the Internet was since introduction of this awards program our primary objective. In order to stay on course and to achieve this goal, a reconstruction of the entire awards was necessary, which will reflect the true nature of being a Maestro all together.

One of the most difficult decisions we had to make was to abolish the multi level awards system, meaning that we no longer award in different levels such as gold, silver or bronze. We realize that this step may cause a slight drop in this program's popularity, but we also realize that the Web population demands more top class awards.

We may have taken away the multi levels, but we are now offering an even more prestigious reward: The Site of the Year Award! The best 3 award winning websites over the past year will be awarded with this accolade at the end of the year.

And there is more... every month the best site will be featured on all pages in Maestro Awards...for a full month!
